With high level of english proficiency and a literacy rate of 94%, no wonder why Philippines is taking flight in call center and BPO-related services. It is a hotspot for outsourcing due to three main reasons: Philippines is (1) a less expensive option with (2) a good cultural adaptation and (3) neutral accent. Filipinos speak Idiomatic American english better than other Asian countries, the reason why American companies choose Philippines for voice works.
The continuing growth of call center industry in the Philippines is becoming transparent. American customers wayback 2009 when I first entered the world of call center would ask if you’re an Indian if they decipher unfamiliar accent. Today, they would normally ask if you’re a Filipino to confirm. It implies that Philippines has marked it’s presence in the industry. The latest promising job for Filipinos is medical transcription. This is a great oppurtunity to all overblown population of health-related professionals especially for those more than 300,00 jobless licensed nurses. Nevertheless, if American customers are calling their banks, place a catalog order or complain about busted computer device, they would reach a Filipino agent. If not, most likely, it’s an Indian representative.
No one needs reminding that India has long been considered outsourcing capital of the world. Their skills in Information Technology (IT) and system of commerce made them the dominant player in outsourcing. It is touted that the hardest thing to teach an agent is to use two rebuttals but with Indians, is to stop after two. At this time, India is still way ahead their 3rd world match, the Philippines in BPO but the latter is growing rapidly per year in terms of number of companies investing in the country.
Question is, which country offers the best Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)? I would say Philippines for voice and India for back-office (People working here should be computer literate. Task is more in documentation like billing and other paperworks). Considering the incertitude from a threat to cut incentives for companies that ship jobs overseas by Obama, I think it’s time for both countries to work hand in hand specially at this time that more countries are starting to open their doors for outsourcing.

Being a call center agent can be stressful. Most of the time you are working graveyard shift and not only you are vulnerable to health risks but also you are the apple in hold uppers’, snatchers’, criminals’ and the likes' eyes. Customers can also be a great stressor. Imagine yourself talking to a very dissatisfied customer yelling at you at the top of his lungs and all you could respond is “i’m sorry” and “i apologize” when basically it's not your fault. Customers can be really irritating if you are not  their cup of tea. Added to that are prank callers cranking corny jokes. To cope with it, what could give more satisfaction than eating. In our team, pigging out is the favorite team building to release tension. It is like you think customers are the spaghetti strands and you’ll twist them together until it’s really firm and the sauce starts to spurt out till they’re totally choked. Nevertheless, with a little creativity-you’re good to go.
If you are really stressed out and you need a worthwhile outlet or just want some food tripping, eat all you can restos are the best destination. In Davao, there’s a lot that offer the best food with considerable prices – cheap and affordable. Here’s  my top 3. First in the list is Taipan @ Anda St. They offer different varieties of quality foods from viands (pork, chicken, fish and other seafoods, veggies etc. with a touch of chinese cooking); sweets like cakes including brazo de mercedes, chocolate moist and fruits to condiments or sauces. I specially love the pancit and tropical fruits with cream that you can buy for 30 to 45 pesos from other resto.  Although they don’t have the best ambience, the place is not so crowded. It gives a little privacy when you chitchat without raising your voice to be heard. Customer service is 9/10. You can even see the owner serving the customers at the table. All of these are available for 99 pesos only. Next on the list is Tita D’s @ Inigo St. They have as well a lot of food served. They can boast of their viands from meat to sea foods, like shrimps, crabs and fish, especially “kinilaw”. They offer fruits and sweets such as cakes though I think it’s not well flavored.  However, it is fair enough since you're paying for only 120pesos and you’ll have free glass of coke or iced tea on top of it. To be honest, first thing I look for in the table are the sweets. Eat all you cans have numbers of viands but most of the time, nothing good for desserts. Now considering HRM students are manning the place, I’m expecting quality service but unfortunately sometimes due to mobbing customers you need to have elbow grease if you want to get their attention for a glass of water perhaps- it’s inconvenient!  Over all, my score is 8 out of 10.  For instance you are more particular with the place’s ambience, furniture or furnishings for facebook purposes let’s say,  Grand Men Seng @ Magallanes St. is a great place to be. They have 99PhP worth eat all you can merienda. It is a best spot to treat your date. The place is classy but not pricey. If you have business meet ups or you’re more of a snack person, this is your new haven. The small well-designed table’s main dish is spaghetti if not Lasagna. To sweeten up you taste buds, Filipinos’ favorite ice treat halo-halo is ready to be feasted on. The menu includes  loaf bread, tropical juice, salad and fruits etc. My rating is 7/10 just because I’m a voracious eater and my Mr. Tommy is not satisfied with just snacks. Still, it reached the third spot not only because of the well-dressed waiters but also with their high-class service.
Indeed, eating can be a lot of fun. It can be a good stress release when you’re down in the mouth or you’re all piled up of to-do’s.  However, always remind yourself though it sounds  cliche’ but true that too much of something is dangerous. So why not stretch a little muscles and move  the booties.  In fighting stress, always remember that you have a lot more control than you might think. If your method of coping is not eating because you’re conscious with the F-I-G-U-R-E, it’s time to find healthier ones wherein you find the most comfort. Focus on what makes you feel calm and in control.
Just in case you’d like to food trip, here’s some other suggestions eat-all-you-cans in town that I’d been to with corresponding rating. Again, these are all based in my own opinion. You can make your own blog if you think it didn’t meet your standards. PEACE.

8.9 magnitude Quake, 30 ft. Tsunami, then the Radiation Scare. What's next? Is it the end of the World? Those are the questions in my mind right now and I'm quite sure it's in yours as well. With those things everywhere on T.V., internet,  newspaper and other media hysteria showing catastrophe, you can't help but think negative. People become paranoid and hysterical. But before you even think of going too far, here's the news. Just in case you didn't know, Ann Coulter, an American conservative, social and political commentor said that radiation is actually good. The theory is that Radiation, as some level much higher than the minimums set by the US government - radiation is good for you. This does protect against cancer by activating cell's natural defense mechanism.
In a nurse's point of view, we've always been educated that too much radiation is harmful. Everyone thinks it is. Back in college, I had a fair share of experience about radiation scare. We were on duty in one hospital in Tagum City that time. From emergency department together with my partner, we escorted a TB patient (which we are not aware of) to his room in a wheelchair. We reached the area and the nurse on duty pointed the room and we headed off. The door was half shut and it was dim. The only thing that gave light to the cozy dark room was a noticeable purple light emitted by an elongated object in about one meter in length from the ground. Then, I opened the door and placed the patient in his bed. I left my partner outside to provide enough space to wheel the patient in. The room was messy and there was a heavy table at the middle, the culprit why it took a while to finally situate the patient. After that, I was sweating hard. That’s the time i realized that heat was spawned from the purple light. Before i could investigate further, the patient caught my attention and said, out of kindness that he was fine now (it means it’s time for me to go) though it was obvious that he was irritated with the room condition. So we left the area and headed back to emergency room. I thought i saw my partner flashing a puckish grin at my sweaty reddish face. Before i could clean up my self, the supervisor nurse came into the scene  with my clinical instructor beside her. She started reprimanding. There i realized that the room i stayed in for more than 30 minutes underwent a radiation treatment. The small elongated object was the UV (ultraviolet) Light used to kill bacteria. The supervisor had a lot to say but when she started talking about radiation, I was dumbfounded. I got really scared that i didn’t realize that the supervisor was already done with her sermon and went back to her office, doing her incidental report. My heartbeat got angrier when Rad-tech beside me started opening his mouth and talked about the bad effects of radiation. He narrated about radiation killing the cells and about cancer. He added that symptoms might not be felt immediately however long term effects in the future may be severe. Good thing one patient asked for his X-ray scan and the radio technologist went out before i’d eventually faint.  My other teammates went in and started to story-tell and provided comfort. One of them said it’s not my fault. The nurse on duty did not put door tag or warning notes but i was not really paying attention. I was more worried for myself. Then all of the sudden, i thought of the patient. The guilt started to get into me so I hurriedly went back to the patient’s room. It’s clean now and obviously UV Light was no longer there. I was about to get inside to apologize but opted to stop so as not to wake him up from deep sleep. The man deserved a good rest and sleep and i don’t have to explain why. The next day, we went home to Davao. I ran some blood test. Everything was fine except for my Lymphocytes.  The count went down from the normal range. One week after, i had my blood tested again and fortunately, all was normal. From there, i kept everything to my self but still apprehensive to what’s going to happen – the long term effects that yet to come like what the rad-tech said.  Only God knows.
Now, here we have Ann Coulter, saying radiation is actually good. It was supported by some studies conducted in attempts to prove it real. Among the search for the truth made was in Canada finding that tuberculosis patients subjected to multiple chest X-rays had much lower rates of breast cancer than the general population. In 1983, a series of apartment buildings in Taiwan were accidentally constructed with massive amounts of cobalt 60, a radioactive substance. After 16 years, the buildings' 10,000 occupants developed only five cases of cancer. The cancer rate for the same age group in the general Taiwanese population over that time period predicted 170 cancers. Amazingly, even the Soviet-engineered disaster at Chernobyl in 1986 can be directly blamed for the deaths of no more than the 31 people inside the plant who died in the explosion. Although news reports generally claimed a few thousand people died as a result of Chernobyl -- far fewer than the tens of thousands initially predicted -- that hasn't been confirmed by studies. There’s a lot more! (visit www.anncoulter.com)
Somehow, it made me feel relieved. Same should go with everybody else.  We’re experiencing a great ordeal now with these overblown crises. Weather is indeed  beyond our control which makes it worse. I think it would be somehow beneficial to cut some slack out of it and give ourselves a little break. Let us remind ourselves to stay calm and not to panic. I’m not suggesting everyone to be lax. Instead, be aware and not ignore. When the time comes and things we fear will actually happen (knock on woods), you’re well prepared. After all, being mentally prepared is a key to successful survival.
